- Anita Birkenfeld is an Israeli artist born in Poland and currently living in Israel. She is known for her sculptures which are both thought-provoking and visually pleasurable. Her exploration of the human body allows her to focus on the way certain body parts are inherently sculptural. This examination of the body also includes the way that clothing inhabits the body by sculpting empty garments so they seem to hang on invisible people. This is furthered by the poses, lack of limbs and folding quality.
Her bronze sculptures are a study into materiality and the illusion of bronze into soft fabric is at the heart of Birkenfeld’s art. Her works are thought out, each ridge carefully committed to the entirety of the sculpture. Her works are sensitive and true to her line of sight and thought process. She is represented by The Judges Tower, Tel Aviv – Changing view, Expressions Gallery, Agora Gallery, Chelsea, New York, Arta Gallery, King David st’, Jerusalem, Israel, Art Market, Tanglin, Singapore, Mikedem Fine Art Gallery, Old city of Zefat
